Tag Thursday - Book Buying Habits

Hello everyone!

I am back once again with another Tag Thursday! This week is my Book Buying Habits tag, created by Regular Reads, and as always, you can check out the original video here.

1. Where do you buy your books from?
I buy most of my books online, either from Indigo or Amazon.ca and occasionally Book Outlet. Most of the time it is cheaper to buy books online than it is in stores, and I usually spend enough to get free shipping. I will occasionally go to a Chapters/Indigo physical store, but the nearest one is a good 30 minute drive from where I live.

2. Do you ever preorders book and if so do you do this in store or online?
I do preorder books, depending on the book. For example, Four: A Divergent Collection by Veronica Roth was on preorder as soon as I could get it, but if its some other book that I am interested in but don't necessarily need right when it comes out, I won't preorder it. I usually preorder online, but in the past I have preordered in stores, because I wasn't aware you could preorder online. Like I said in question 1, I live pretty far away from a bookstore so online preordering is easier.
3. On average, how many books do you buy a month?
This really depends on the month. One month I might buy 20 books and the next month 5. One month I might decide to tackle my TBR list and the next I might be getting the latest new releases. On average, I would say maybe 7 or 8 books a month.
4. Do you used your local library?
I actually just moved provinces and previously, in the province I used to live in I never used the library because it was inconvenient to get to. However, now that I am settled, I may pop into the library here because it is a lot easier to get to.
5. If so, how many books can you/do you borrow at a time?
N/A
6. What is your opinion on library books?
I don't mind library books, I can see where they would be helpful, if you don't know if you will like a book or not and you don't want to commit to buying the actual book, but I just feel like I know my tastes, and I know what I will like and what I won't like. I usually buy my own books, occasionally checking one out in the school library or something, and for the most part, this method hasn't failed me yet.
7. How do you feel about charity shop/second hand books?
I think second hand books are great. As long as the book is in good condition and if it's a hardcover, it has the dust jacket, I am happy to buy second hand books. While I prefer that "new book smell" that comes along with a brand spanking new book, I would consider buying second hand books in person. I don't like buying used books online because I am afraid of what condition they might be in.
8. Do you keep your read and TBR pile together/on the same book shelf or not?
I was actually just deciding if I should rearrange my shelves to separate the TBR and the read books but as of right now they are mixed together. Because I don't have the biggest shelves at the moment, and I have too many books, it is a bit of a Jenga game to get them all on there, so I think I will leave it the way it is.
9. Do you plan to read all of the books that you own?
Of course! Why would you buy a book if you are not going to read it!
10. What do you do with books that you own that you feel you will never read/felt you did not enjoy?
This is a tricky one. I have a few books that I read that weren't my favourite. I always finish books, no matter how much I dislike it and give every book I own a fair chance, so there are not really any unread books I don't want. As to what to do with them, I am thinking I might sell them. Many, if not all have only ever been read once so they are in pristine condition.
11. Have you ever donated books?
Before moving, we had a garage sale to get rid of some stuff. I put some books I didn't want out and whatever didn't sell was donated, so I guess that would be a yes.
12. Have you ever been on a book buying ban?
I am actually on one currently! I'm not doing very good at it though, I just bought a book this morning, but I was just replacing a paperback with a hard cover book to match the rest of the trilogy. That doesn't count as breaking the ban does it? No, I didn't think so!
13. Do you feel that you buy too many books?
When I look at my bookshelves, I think that I need to get a bigger shelf, but not that I have too many books. Then I look at my bank account balance and think I buy too many books!

There you have it! My Book Buying Habits! I hope you enjoyed and feel free to leave your responses in the comments section below!
