I am back with another Top 5 Wednesday! If you want to check it out, you can go to the Goodreads group and read more about it.
This week's topic is top 5 cover buys, or books you bought based on the cover. Now, I try not to judge a book by its cover, but there are a few books that I just had to get because the cover intrigued me.
5. Cinder
Cinder by Marissa Meyer was one of those books that had an amazing cover but I never really felt interested in the story. I had never read a fairy-tale retelling when I bought this book, but after reading it, I want to go out and get the other books.
It has such a gorgeous and simple cover. In person, it has an almost semi-gloss finish that is super smooth.
4. Rebel Belle
Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins is a book I knew very little about, and if I am being perfectly honest, I didn't seem that interested in the story.
However, I could not pass up the cover. It just had a unique styling with the dagger and the necklace. It really stood out to me.
After reading it, I can confirm that it is a book that not only has a gorgeous cover, but also has an amazing story!
3. The Rosie Project
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion was another book that I knew the general premise of, but I couldn't pass up the cover.
After reading this one, I can say that this book has a great cover, but a not so great story. I don't know if its because it is an adult fiction book or what but I had to force myself to finish this one.
2. Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore
Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan was a weird book. I loved the cover, I thought the books were really cool and I loved the Sharpie writing look. Plus, the yellow parts GLOW IN THE DARK! How cool is that!?
Story wise though, I have not many good things to say. Again, I had to force myself to finish this one and I didn't really love it as much as I did the cover.
1. Don't Stop Now
I am going to say right now that I have no clue what Don't Stop Now by Julie Halpern is about. A road trip maybe? Its got the words 'friend' and 'or boyfriend?' on it so maybe its about a road trip with friends who become more than friends?
I have no clue but when I saw this book on Book Outlet, I just added it to the cart without even looking at what it was about.
Is that sad? I don't know but I love the cover!
Alright so there you have it! Another T5W down. See you next week for another T5W!
