Hello everyone!
I am back with another Monday Reviews and this week I am reviewing Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi.
**CAUTION: THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MILD SPOILERS**
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. But before I get to my review, lets get a synopsis.
Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong colour.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice. Be a warrior. Or be a weapon.
I wasn't sure what to expect, so many people loved it.
I really liked the romance and the adventure, but I felt like because I knew that Warner was going to become the "good guy" I had a hard time seeing him as genuine in his actions against Juliette.
I felt unsure about Warner, he would do something and I would think he was being a butt and I wouldn't like him, but then part of me was trying to find the parts of him that were nice and kind to Juliette.
I thought Adam was okay, again I knew about Warner becoming the good guy, so part of me was skeptical of Adam. But if I was just reading the book not know what was going to happen, I would have liked him better.
Overall, it was a good book, with some flaws, like that ending, but hey, it was still a great book and I will definitely continue the series! I ended up giving it a 5/5 stars on Goodreads.
Don't forget to come back next week for another Monday Reviews!
