Top 5 Wednesday - Books I Wasn't Expecting to Like But Did

Hello everyone!

I am back with another Top 5 Wednesday! If you want more info, you can check out the Goodreads page here!

This weeks topic is top 5 books I wasn't expecting to like but did once I gave it a chance. I feel like I stick within my specific bubble and don't really like to venture too far out of that bubble. However, there have been times where I have stepped out of that bubble and I have been glad.

Here is my list!

5. The Selection by Kiera Cass

Many people weren't a huge fan of this trilogy, or I guess now series, but I really enjoyed it once I gave it a chance. I got originally from the library and have since refrained from purchasing it because I don't know if I want to get it in paperback to match the novellas or get it in hardcover and be able to buy the new books in hardcover when they are first released.

4. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

Anyone who knows me knows I am not big into fantasy. And this was a fairly high fantasy trilogy. However, I got the first book from the library and loved it so much I bought it and the rest of the trilogy! If you are new to fantasy, I would definitely recommend this trilogy!

3. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan

I was first skeptical because the series is classified as a "children's series" which to be perfectly honest, reading for the first time at 17 years old, didn't strike me as something I wanted to do. But, once again, my trusty library showed me the way! I read the first book and 15 pages in knew I was going to be placing an order for the box set!

2. The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

I don't like vampires. I never read Twilight or The Vampire Diaries but I did enjoy this book. And maybe I will pick up another vampire book soon.

1. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Aliens? Come on! Not to mention the hype surrounding this book/series! But I downloaded it when it was available for a free ebook and read it in one day. Next thing I know, I am buying the whole series, in the brand new bind ups and paying for express shipping to get it sooner! But this is one that I definitely recommend!

There you have it! My top 5 books I wasn't expecting to like, but did!
