Hello everyone!
I am back with another Monday Reviews! This week, I am reviewing Alive by Scott Sigler. Thanks so much to Penguin Random House Canada for sending me a copy of this book to review. All opinions however, are my own.
Wow!
Ok so this review isn't going to be super long, because I really think it is best going into it with little knowledge about this book as possible, so I can't talk about too much, but I will say a few things.
I really don't know what to say that isn't a spoiler. I will say that this book was super fast paced, I read it in two sittings in half a day, and I really enjoyed it! I was engaged the whole time, the writing was great, though some of the chapter beginnings were a little bit repetitive, but I almost think that was part of the writing style and the storyline itself was brilliant.
Some of the main topics of this book reminded me a little of The Maze Runner by James Dashner meets Lord of the Flies by William Golding, with a hint of The Forsaken by Lisa M. Stasse. There were secrets and confusion on where they were and why they were there.
At the end of this book, Scott has a little note from the author to the reader, asking to not spoil this book. In most cases, this kind of FYI isn't really necessary, if you spoil something in most books, its not the end the world (unless that book is Allegiant). However, I truly feel like this book is so fantastic that you don't need to, or want to know much to love it and that this anti-spoiler message is important for readers to understand.
On that note, I will say no more, for I fear I have already said too much already.
Overall, I highly, highly recommend this book and I can't wait to continue the trilogy!
Also, for those of you who like to listen to your books as opposed to read them, you can listen to the audio book from Audible! Here is a preview of the first chapter, for your listening pleasure!
