I am back with another Monday Reviews - on a Friday! cuz I am lazy like that! This week, I am reviewing The Accident Season by Moïra Fowley-Doyle. Since it is now officially October, I thought I would share some more spooky reads, to get into the holiday spirit.
Wow! I don't even know what to say about this book!
It was beautifully written and so very unique but I still find myself a little confused.
Some parts of this book I thought were predictable, like the romance, but other parts, like the Alice and Elsie parts, I never would have guessed.
I want to love this book, and on some level, I did. But I'm still unsure of what the accident season was and why it happened. Was it all a cover up for Christopher? Was it staged? I don't know!
It was a little creepy, but nothing too scary. At one point I thought I was going to have to put it down, I was reading before bed, but I was just so engrossed in the story, I couldn't stop! (and I didn't have any nightmares!) But seriously, for those that are concerned about it being too scary, I am such a big baby when it comes to scary stuff, I made it through this unscathed!
I would definitely recommend if you liked We Were Liars or the first book in The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer trilogy (after that one they take a really weird turn).
Anyways, long story short, if you are looking for a October read that is creepy but not nightmare-inducing, I would definitely recommend this one, I gave it a 4/5 stars on Goodreads!
