Monday Reviews - The Anatomical Shape of a Heart by Jenn Bennett

Hello everyone!

I am back with another Monday Reviews! Its been a little bit since my last one, but I'm back now!

This week, I am reviewing a book that came out a little over a month ago, The Anatomical Shape of a Heart by Jenn Bennett. I received an e-ARC from Raincoast Books, all opinions are my own.

Love love loved this book! I loved every aspect of this book.

The romance was great, not too insta-love-y but they got together early enough that we got to see them together for most of the book, which is something I always enjoy! We really get to see them in their relationship!

This book touched on many real life issues, divorce, love, sexual orientation, mental illness, etc. But what was nice was that these issues were all dealt with in secondary ways, not just the main focus of the book. Even though there were lots of serious topics, it still was a lighter read.

I finished it in two days and if I didn't have school, I would probably have read it all in one sitting.

Bex was such a great main character, and she was complimented by so many great side characters, including her brother, mother, boss, friend (friend-like-friend from college <-- high five to you if you get that movie reference).

I really think this may be one of the best books I've read this year. It was unique, but still relatable and interesting. The characters were great, Bex isn't super rich, in fact since her dad left, she's pretty much part of the low socio-economic class (yeah, look at me using big university level words!) and that was refreshing. She had to help pay bills, and she didn't live in a great area, but not cliche bad, just she-has-a-single-mom-working-double-shifts-at-the-hospital-not-so-great-part-of-town. But it didn't hold her back, or at least, she didn't let it.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it!!
