Monday Reviews - Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

Hello everyone!

I am back with another Monday Reviews! This week I am reviewing Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng. Thanks to Penguin Random House for sending me a copy of this book for review! All opinions are my own!

Wow.

This book was so much more than I thought it would be.

It was so beautifully crafted, carefully weaving together the stories of the past with the reality of coping with the death of a child.

This book also touches on some interesting topics, such as a mixed race family in a period where that was allowed but still looked at strangely, infidelity, the tragedy of losing a child and briefly, homosexuality in the late 1970s America. But I also loved that these main issues were embodied by different characters throughout the story. Some major, some minor.

I think what I loved most about this book was that each character had their own issues personally, but together in a family setting, it really showed that we are all connected. Every action has a reaction, whether positive or negative. I also really liked that once we finally learnt what happened to Lydia, it represented a culmination of everyones own issues in one communal tragedy.

I found this book very eye opening and I definitely think that between the gorgeous writing and the issues it addresses, this book is a must read for everyone!

Highly recommend!
