I am back with another Top 5 Wednesday! If you want to check it out, you can go to the Goodreads group and read more about it.
This week's topic is top 5 worst love interests. I had a bit of a struggle coming up with this list, because, for the most part, I go along with the main love interest that the author choses. For the sake of getting 5 choices, I'm going to include love triangles/side romances that I didn't like and also didn't pan out.
Aspen from The Selection by Kiera Cass
I think part of me always had a sneaking suspicion that it wasn't going to work out for Aspen and America. She went to the Selection and if she did come back, she just didn't seem too thrilled with being with Aspen, even though they had such a connection. In my mind, she would never go back to him, so I didn't even think of him as a possible love interest for her after a while.Lara Jean from To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
I have ranted on and on about this book and series overall on Instagram, now it's only fair to do it here. I think I've decided my problem here is Lara Jean. She is just such a painful character. She annoys me, she's childish, and frankly both the love interests deserve so much more than her. I know she is the main character in the story and the narrator, so we can't get rid of her, but I just think she is a horrible love interest for anyone!Rhysand from A Court of Thorns and Roses
I'm still not sure what happened here. From what I recall in reading this book, Feyre and Tamlin were going strong, and then this Rhysand guy comes in out of nowhere. Unless I missed a major part of the book, he wasn't there long. And then I start reading reviews that he is so amazing, everyone wants him and Feyre to be together... like what? I think I missed the memo that we were all Team Rhysand all of the sudden! Maybe I'll have to reread and see what I missed, because I love Feyre and Tamlin together!Adam from Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
I feel bad for Adam in this trilogy a little bit. I was kind of spoiled for this series and knew that end goal was Warner, so I think automatically, I didn't like Adam. He's not the worst love interest, but between him and Warner, Warner is so much better. He's well spoken, good to Juliette, I just think that because I was of the mindset that it was Warner in the end, Adam just never seemed like a viable competitor.
Conrad from The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
Finally, Conrad. Throughout this series, Belly (don't even start with me) goes back and forth between Conrad and his brother Jeremiah. I feel really bad for Jeremiah because Belly has loved Conrad since the beginning. He just never reciprocated. And then Jeremiah started to show an interest in Belly, so she chose him for a bit. Belly's affections jumped back and forth a bit, but whenever it was towards Conrad, I hated it. Jeremiah was so much sweeter and generally kind to her. Conrad was a jerk with no regard for Belly's feelings.
So there you have it, my top 5 worst love interests! What are your thoughts??
