FOE BY IAIN REID - BOOK REVIEW

I had no idea what this book was about going in and I have no idea what it is really about 130 pages later. I gave it a good half-way try but I just couldn't get through it and had to DNF it.

Hello everyone,

I am back with another review, Foe by Iain Reid. Thanks so much to Simon and Schuster for sending me an ARC of this book for an honest review, as always, all opinions are my own.

I don't even know if I could give you a proper synopsis for this book. It follows the two main characters, Junior and Hen who live in the countryside with seemingly no one else. Then one day, a government/science corporation guy shows up telling them that Junior has been selected from a lottery to be a part of an outer space expedition where he will live on a satellite for a few years to collect data. There is also supposed to be some horror/thriller elements to the book but I guess I just didn't get that far.

I read Reid's other book, I'm Thinking of Ending Things, back when it first came out, so I knew that this one would be weird as well, but I didn't know it was going to be this weird. I'm not even convinced I really know what was happening for most of the book, it was all so bizarre. You can tell there is something being built up to for most of the book, but I just found I didn't really care enough to get that far to see what it was.

Overall, I think other people may love this book, but for me, I just couldn't get into it.
